50th Wedding Anniversary

The 50th golden anniversary is one of the most celebrated wedding anniversaries.
There are many ways to commemorate such a momentous occasion. Spending half a century in love with one person is a wonderful statement about the gift of married life. It is a milestone and should be celebrated accordingly with a party to honor the couple.
I happen to know of such a loving family that put together a beautiful party for their parent's 50th. It was held at a private residence in rural Georgia on a lovely piece of land.
This is the main table inside. The spider mums were the same type of flower in the wedding in 1959.

They had many photos, the wedding album and even the wedding gown displayed for all the guests to view. It made me feel like I was looking back in time to see the wedding pictures and see the actual gown.

Here is the lovely couple sharing their first cake together.

When their daughter in law called me about a cake for 100 we talked about what style of cake and we decided to have a central cake that represented the 50 years of marriage and then we would have 2 satellite cakes that represented the bride and groom's interests.

This is the anniversary cake. A 2 tiered cake with white on ivory buttercream icing, with quilting squares and a cornelli lace design.

(The thing I love about cornelli lace ~it is one continuous stream of icing that never overlaps itself, to me this is very symbolic when celebrating married life)

There are also gold dragees, fondant flowers and a sugarpaste 50 painted with gold luster dust. It was placed at the center of the table to be cut ceremoniously by the lovely couple.

This cake represents the groom's love of the lake house.

This cake represents the brides' love of music.

And here is the final display of all 3 cakes at the venue.

(I hope that I might get a photo of the cake cutting to include in this story.)

Congratulations on 50 years! What a lovely example you give for others to follow.
