Modern Wedding Shower

I was given no limitations or instructions on what the cake needed to be.

A wedding shower, no specific decorations at the party (because everything was decorated for Halloween), the colors of the bridesmaid's dresses were 2 tone brown.
When I asked if the wedding was modern or more traditional, she said more modern.

Okay....
2 tone brown....
modern.....
oh and throw the monogram in for the couple......

And this is......

what I created.

Buttercream iced with modeling chocolate accents and rose.
I really like how it turned out!

Sometimes I struggle when I don't have a lot of direction for the cake, and vice versa....sometimes they have TOO many specifics and it can cramp my style.
Tell me what things do you struggle with when it comes to cake???

Halloween!!!

I had several cakes for Halloween themed celebrations this year.  Instead of posting each cake in it's own post, I decided to lump them together in one!

These are chocolate bats and spider webs on electric green and purple swirled buttercream.

I made this cake as a donation for a local softball group.  They are trying to raise money for a trip.

This is the chocolate haunted house....I put yellow chocolate behind so the windows would "shine".
Ghosts and gravestones.
I think they sold more tickets than they thought they would!
This one went to DH's work.....see the company name in the web???
(Most of the people didn't see it until it was pointed out to them!)

And these are the napkins that inspired the white and orange swirl cupcakes with bats, served up to the kiddos at school!
I hope you all had a grand Halloween!
(Yeah for me....I posted this before Thanksgiving!)

Mani~Pedi Party

For her 11th birthday, Isabella is having a Mani-Pedi party!  How much fun is that?

Getting together with all your girlfriends and getting all your nails done?

Her mom told me light blue was her favorite color and wanted me to include polish bottles and other girly things.  She said that Isabella really likes to watch the "cake shows" on TV and she definitely wanted to have fondant on her cake.

I made the polish bottles from fondant and personalized them for Isabella.  One is "I" and the other is "11".  I have a chocolate mold for the shoes.  I thought they would look nicer than a foot!
Hope you have a wonderfully fun party!

Monkeying Around

If you have been following me for awhile, you know how lucky I feel to have made my niece's birthday cakes for her 1st and 2nd birthdays.....

well my luck continues because I was able to be there and make her 3rd birthday!

Her mom, my sister, said that the cake needed to include a MONKEY!!!

Well I was thrilled to hear, because I have been coveting one of the cutest cakes ever on flickr by Chocomocakes
(Mine are no where near her amazing talent, but a girl can aspire!)

I love the little monkey she made, so I wanted to style my monkey in that fashion.

Now traveling and decorating aren't always the best companions.  There were a few tools that I forgot and there wasn't a flat surface to work on at the cabin, so I'm using those as my excuses reasons why my cake doesn't look like hers!  Ha Ha.
When I asked Leah what her favorite color was she told me "pink and yellow", so that settled it.  Pink was a definite color.  I added the yellow flowers and the monkey's yellow banana and yellow lettering.  The other color I like with pink is lime green so for the bottom tier I added pink and green stripes.

Here is the beautiful birthday girl with her cake.  Oh how I hope to make her cake again next year!
I love you Leelups!!!

Laser Tag!

Laser Tag is a fun game to play with your friends on your birthday!

I made two "paths" of twists and turns to show the "laser battle" between red and blue.

I cut the boys from fondant and gave them coordinating laser guns and vests.

The "lasers" are pulled sugar from Jolly Rancher candies!
Hope you had a laserific birthday Jacob!

Under the Big Top

This is the partyware for Ava's birthday.  What a wonderful inspiration for a cake design!

A clown....

A circus elephant...

the ringmaster...
A striped tent....

and of course the marquee with the birthday girl's name "in lights"!
Happy Birthday Ava!

Falyn's 13!!!

For  Falyn's 13th, she wanted something with zebra print and something with a teal color.
Her mom decided on the gift design.

I learn something new each time I make a gift cake!  One day, I might even get close to perfect!

Happy Birthday Falyn!

Brittany's Welcome

I wish I had more background on this cake to share with you.  I can tell you that it is for an adoption celebration party.

Brittany has found a loving home and how lucky she is to be celebrating with her new family and friends!
Welcome Home!

Topsy Turvy Zebra Print

Zebra print is the IN thing now!

Topsy turvy is always so fun to make.  This cake uses modeling chocolate for stars (they are covered in sanding sugar) and the birthday girl's name.

Happy 7th Birthday Haven!

Minnie Mouse Ears

Ever since I saw a minnie mouse themed cake on my wonderful friend's website.....Sweet Art Shop.... I have been wanting to make a similar design.

Luckily Kristie had the same idea for Ella's 2nd birthday!

This cake is 100% edible!

My favorite parts.....

Disney font writing.....
and the edging on the bottom of the hat, complete with stitching!

Feedback makes me smile!

Thank You soooo much for the cake! Ella loved it. Everyone thought it was so CUTE. Then they tasted it and they LOVED it. There is no cake left over. People were calling to stop by and get a piece. I have 2 friends who want to order a ckae for their kids birthday. I am sure we will contact you soon. Thanks again! I can't wait to order Jaxon's cake. He will be one in March.
