Rodeo RoundUp School Fundraiser

Get Along Little Doggie!
This fun cake was a cake walk donation I made for the boys' school fundraiser, the first ever spring event the "Rodeo Roundup". The PTO is raising money this year to purchase new playground equipment for the elementary school, so I saw my chance to make a fun western cake and ran with it.
I took the cake up to the school around lunch today and later the PTO President called and asked if she could place my cake in the raffle rather than the cake walk (to avoid any arguing over who gets the cake! ;)
Either way, I had fun making the cake and I hope it brings a bit more money to the PTO for the kids' sake. Thanks for all the hard work and many volunteer hours you give PTO parents!

Spring has Sprung!

A beautiful spring arrangement from Teleflora.
Can I make a cake like this? Well.....I'm gonna try!
A simple request, all buttercream because the birthday girl LOVES icing and different types and colors of flowers.
So it's not an exact replica, but it was a good inspiration!
What a delicious garden! This cake is 100% edible (with the except of the sucker stick holding the candy sign). The fence is made from white chocolate, the lady bugs are mini m&m's and the butterflies are edible ink printed on wafer paper.
Happy Birthday MiMi!

Exciting Business Venture

Okay, remember how I said I had exciting news! Well here it is!
These are some delicious cupcakes that I made to take to a "Tasting Dinner" at
Triple Chocolate cake with Chocolate Buttercream Icing swirl & White Almond Sour Cream with Buttercream Icing swirl
Erin Sheldon and Company over at The Shades of South Beach have created a beautiful event venue for things such as wedding receptions, family reunions or other large gatherings. They are located on Tybee Island Georgia. Maybe you have heard of it?? I hear Sandra Bullock has a home there and also John Cougar Mellancamp (although I haven't seen for myself...yet!)
Anyway...... this great family was looking to expand their services to more than just a venue and have created the ultimate wedding planning team. They have a wonderful chef who can whip up some really tasty food! I believe they are working with a florist also.
Well, just guess who is on her contact list for wedding and grooms cakes???
Give up???
ME! Cake Believe!
I am so excited!
I have my first Shades of South Beach Tybee Island wedding booked for April 11th.
I am very excited to be partnering with The Shades of South Beach and I can't wait to see how it all unfolds in the near future!

Baby Time!

So cute, baby so cute!
These are the napkins being used at the baby shower. So cute, great colors, too much fun!

Here is Cake Believe's interpretation of this shower theme.
I love pretty polka dots and the baby is just too cute. The hostess asked for polka dots and stripes and showed me the napkin design, then she let me work out the final design.

Cute little fingers and toes, this baby even has a belly button!
I had fun modeling this little person out of fondant - I think he's a boy, but we're not sure yet!

Life Begins at 50!

The Red Hat SocietyI believe that a half century is quite an achievement! And apparently so do these Red Hat Society Ladies! When Judy turns 50 all her friends turn out to celebrate her.
Party on girls!

Party Puppies and Jedi

Marina and Zachary are twins that are turning ten. Now I imagine when you are a twin it might be difficult to feel like you have your "own" birthday. But these kids' mom really knows how to make sure they each get their own party! (Even when it's on the same day at the same place!)
This is the partyware that was being used at Marina's birthday party.He's cute for sure!
This is the cake that was served on that cute partyware!
This puppy is hand painted with chocolate. I knew I was going to have to venture into something new when I received the request to have a yellow lab puppy on a sheet cake. I have seen other sugar artists actually paint whole pictures with only chocolate, so I knew it could be done. I think he turned out really cute, take a look at his 'sparkling eyes' and 'wet nose'.
The only problem~according to the birthday girl~how can she get a corner piece and a piece of the puppy?!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the party theme for Zachary's birthday party.
This is the cake served to Zachary's party guests.
Again, I knew I was going to be looking at some new techniques when she asked for this. It is really hard to translate something 'real life' into sugar and have it look right. So I found a picture of the Jedi heroes and traced them onto an edible icing sheet. Then using edible markers, I completed the look. The next best thing to having an edible photo printer....I still get to use my own artistry skills and the birthday boy gets a cake with characters he recognizes!
So three cheers to Marina and Zachary's mom for making sure that each child gets their own party.
You rock mom!
Pink and Purple Princess Palace!
Isn't alliteration fun!This lucky birthday girl loves pink and purple and princesses and butterflies! I incorporated all of those into my castle cake.
I love making these castles, I can add so much detail and I get to think girly! From the sugar cone turrets that are covered in chocolate and sparking sugar, to the sugar cube balconies. The brick look is created using an impression mat on the buttercream icing after it has set up. This cake is 100% edible, with the exception of the Cinderella candle!
Happy Birthday Reilynn!
Dare to Love
Now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love, but the Greatest of these is Love.
1 Corinthians 13:13
A local church was holding a "Fireproof" movie viewing and wedding retreat. They were hosting a dinner and wanted to have a "wedding" themed cake for dessert. I haven't seen the movie yet (it is on my Netflix list with a 'long wait' attached to it), but I do have "The Love Dare" book so I found a verse in the front of that book that you hear recited at many weddings. I decided to incorporate that into the design. The picture is a bit hard to make out, white on white looks good in person, just doesn't translate in photo form.
This is an Italian Cream cake with Cream Cheese Icing. The cornelli lace and verse were done with buttercream icing.
Squirrel Hunting....or Hunting Squirrel??
Isn't he cute? Think the Constitution allows for squirrels to bear arms? Okay, this is a cute story! Timmy is turning 14 and he likes to hunt squirrels, his Grandmother on the other hand really doesn't like the fact that he does that. In fact she used to have a pet squirrel. When Timmy's mom asked me about making this cake she really wanted to play with the existing contention. We thought about a 3D squirrel made from red velvet cake...that way Grandma would be eating squirrel~then we talked about less 'graphic' design options. Ultimately I decided to design a cake that made a play on the words "Squirrel Hunting". This saved me from having to show any of the less glamorous aspects of squirrel hunting.
So you tell me what do you see....a squirrel hunting cake or a hunting squirrel cake?!~
Georgia Thunder Softball
Georgia Thunder! I had to be schooled a bit in softball for this cake. I have made several baseball themed cakes and when I was asked if I did "softball" I had to confess my ignorance on the difference. Biggest change (as far as cake decorating goes) is the color of the ball! Phew...yes I think I can make a softball cake!
This is a triple chocolate cake with buttercream icing. The bases are made from fondant and the YELLOW ball is made from chocolate!
Happy Birthday Taylor!
35 Years of Service at Vopak
I guess when you work for the same company for 35 years...someone thinks you deserve a cool cake! My husband works for a company called Vopak and one of the gentlemen he works with is moving back to Houston and celebrating a big work anniversary milestone. This cake looks like one of the storage tanks at the facility here in Savannah. I created a pump and pipelines out of fondant with a few other embellishments.
This is a 3 layer - 10 inch round cake. It was so tall and heavy too!
Congratulations Lonnie!
Busy Weekend
Okay, this has to be my busiest weekend for cake since we have been in Georgia. The week started slow....which was good because that allowed me to get my shopping lists in order and get all my cake boards and boxes prepared. One cake on Wednesday, four cakes on Friday and FIVE cakes on Saturday (plus some tasting cupcakes) and one last cake on Sunday.
Whew I'm tired! I actually pulled an all nighter on Friday night (took a 2 hour nap from 1 am to 3 am) and then back at it. I think I'm beginning to know what my limits are and when I need to say no!I did have a lot of fun creating some new and different cakes. I can't say that I have a favorite...why don't you tell me which one you like the most!
I'm going to post most of them in separate posts. Then look for one last post that has some exciting news!
See ya ... I'm going to take a nap!
Slam Dunk!
Basketball hoop and net for an All Stars Team celebration. The jersey and stars are made from fondant. Each star has a player name on it.
