Monogram Bridal Shower

Wedding season is in full swing, so of course there will be SHOWERS!

Here was a fun request for cupcakes for the girls!  (Easy to serve, and especially if you have your even as an open house....people aren't waiting around for someone to cut the cake!)

Hot pink and lime green were the color requests.

Bride's new Last Initial "B"

Cupcakes and Cookies!

These cupcakes have a buttercream swirl and a fondant topper with buttercream initials.

Almond sugar cookies with glaze!  YUM!

Bachelorette Party or G.N.O.

At first the title of this post was just Bachelorette Party.....and then I thought better of it.

Some might expect to see a "different" kind of cake....wink wink....if you know what I mean.
(And if you don't, just pretend I didn't say anything)

ANYWAY..... the theme for the bride's last Girl's Night Out, was high heels and martini's!

Of course hot pink and black are ALL the rage also!

But when you are out with your besties, you don't want to have to sit down with a plate and fork!

Cupcakes to the rescue!

This theme worked really well with cupcakes.  I alternated high heels and martini's made from chocolate as edible cupcake toppers.
(If you've been reading me for awhile, you know putting something NON-EDIBLE on a cake is LAST resort for me!)

Thanks for looking!

Bridesmaid's Luncheon Cake

The occasion:  A Bridesmaid's Luncheon - CHECK

The Theme: Hot Pink and Black to match the invitation - CHECK

Style: Please use Wedding Cake Pulls - CHE....wait....WHAT???

I thought I had been in the south long enough to have heard of all traditions surrounding cake (groom's cakes at weddings, smash cakes for first birthdays).

But this time I learned something NEW!

Have you heard of these?

Cake Pulls? (Absolutely nothing like a tractor pull!)

Cake Charms?  (Like non-edible fortunes in cake!)

Intriguing to say the least....  if you want to google it....check here for the background story!

But here is the gist (excerpt from Jewelry by Rhonda):

The custom of "ribbon pulling" dates back to time of  Queen Victoria. A bride would hide small charms (distinctive symbols of romance, love, friendship, memorials, etc.) attached to satin ribbons within the icing of her wedding cake. The bride would have each of her bridesmaids (as well as other important women in her life) pull a charm from the cake before it was cut. It was believed each charm had a special meaning, a bit of advice, or would foretell the future in luck, romance, fortune, etc.

Here are the charms that went into (or should I say under) this cake.

It's really kind of a fun idea.  Bride gives gifts to bridemaids as a thank you, and this little charm has a special meaning or fortune attached to it.

Wouldn't it be fun to buy each maid a charm bracelet and have this be her first charm!?
(I added the hot pink ribbons to match the cake theme, they came with a cream colored ribbon)

Once I got a look at the invitation, I knew I wanted to do the damask pattern with a cake stencil, but I knew ribbons would be in the way.  So I put the charms UNDERNEATH the cake, so as not to interfere with the decorating!

Here is the cake with a copy of the invitation and a top view of the cake also!

This side view shows how the ribbons are all around the cake.

Everyone loved the cake.

The only thing I wonder about.....

Does each bridesmaid pick a ribbon and they all pull at the same time, or just one person pulling in order of standing as the wedding party?

Anyone have a good story/tradition to share?

Lingerie Shower Cake and Cookies

These were for a lingerie themed bridal shower.  You know the one, where all the girls get together and give fun, lacy and sometimes racy unmentionables for the Bride to Be.

So why not give her some she can eat?  (Ahem...no, not those kind)

How about a Victoria Secret inspired gift box with a lacy bra?
OK!

How about some cute cookie favors to be enjoyed at the party or taken home to be enjoyed later!

ALL RIGHTY!

I call these "bras and bums".  The design is inspired by an AMAZING cookie artist
Sweet Sugar Belle  check out her work!

Congrats to the new bride!

Black and White Wedding Shower

Black and White!

Classic color combination, so classy, so versatile.

Black and white are the main colors for the wedding, so for the shower she decided to keep with the wedding theme.

Wedding cake cookies as favors.
I went with 2 different designs to mix it up a bit.

And a simple white buttercream cake with cornelli lace and a fondant bow.  The new bride's monogram is done in dark chocolate.
(I love that new pearl spray in a can....shiny, shiny bow!)
Best wishes to the bride to be!

Lingerie Shower Gift

A bridal shower that has a lingerie theme.....hmm....let's call Cake Believe for the cake.

Ring....Ring.....Ring.....

Yes, I'd like to order a cake for a "lingerie shower". I'm not really sure what I want, but the colors are pink and black. To feed about 30 people.
Great!
Thanks!

How about a Victoria Secret style lingerie box, that has a yummy...I mean beautiful bra???
Done and done.
Congratulations Jessica!
