Peanut Butter Cup Cake

Who DOESN'T love peanut butter and chocolate????

(Well, except for people who are allergic to peanuts!  So sorry about that, you might have to look away now, depending on how strong your allergic reaction is)

So Alan's favorite are Reese's Peanut Butter cups, so I when I saw Bakerella's post about using pb cups IN and ON the cake.....

Delicious chocolate and peanut butter cake with a decadent chocolate ganache icing and smothered in chopped up PB cups.

Pass the milk please!

Ribbons and Flowers

A quick cake for Grandma's birthday.  When I asked about hobbies, favorite colors or other ideas, I was given free reign to design what I wanted.
(That is one of my favorite things to do)

The perfect opportunity to work with my fun new clay gun!  More modeling chocolate ribbons and flowers.
Happy Birthday!

Chocolate Overload!

This is a YUMMY chocolate experience!!!

Triple chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream icing, topped with chocolate ganache and sides covered in chocolate chips!

Lime in the Coconut Tropical 35th

This is the yummy "Lime in the Coconut" cake with coconut cream cheese icing.
A delicious coconut cake with a lime and coconut glaze all slathered with coconut cream cheese icing. Since it's birthday cake....the calories don't count!!!

For a 35th birthday celebration.
They wanted a tropical theme to include the birthday girls' favorite colors:
turquoise and coral hibiscus flowers

I made a "lei" of flowers around the top tier.

Then added palm trees and pink flamingos on the bottom tier.
Happy 35th Birthday Sonya and Sheila!

ECHS Band Celebration

Effingham County High School Band had a celebration dinner. Everyone pitches in different dishes as there are hundreds of people attending.
I got a call for a cake....obviously not enough to feed everyone....
I was asked to include a trumpet and "Go Band" and the ECHS Band logo. This is what I came up with.
I've realized that sheet cakes are not my most favorite cake to decorate....but I really like the scale of the music notes on this and I think it turned out cute!

Soldier's Homecoming Favorite

~Welcome Home Daddy~

Kind of says it all.
I'm proud to be a small part of a soldier's homecoming.
When he left, his baby was very young...now she is almost a year old.
Thank you family for making sacrifices and sharing a hero with the nation.

Thank you to all our men and women who give up their family life to defend freedom in this world of ours.
Thank you for your sacrifices, so I can live in a land where I am free to make my own choices and speak my mind.

Thank you.

50's Jukebox Memories

To celebrate her Dad's 67th birthday, she wanted to "relive" the "happy days" years.

When he was in school it was a one room school house, and when he was old enough, he drove the bus!

He played football.....and I guessed there was a pair of saddle shoes in his closet!
As he is a music lover, I wanted to bring that feel of the late 50's with a cool jukebox.....
and record albums....not CD's!
These are 45's with some hit songs from the late 50's.
They are made from modeling chocolate!

Hope the birthday was a successful trip down memory lane!

German Chocolate

If you could taste this cake through the blogosphere.....you would know how incredibly yummy it is!
I got this recipe from a friend when I lived in Texas....and then I found out the recipe is actually on the Baker's German chocolate baking bar box! It doesn't matter where it came from, the fact is that it is the BEST german chocolate cake EVER!

There are several steps in preparing this cake, but each step adds to the overall flavor and appearance. The step to add.....toast your pecans before you add them to the coconut pecan icing....you won't regret it!

This is by far the cake choice of my husband every year! And now I'm thinking Ian and his family might have a new favorite!
Happy Birthday Ian!

Here's the link to Baker's recipe
