Bride and Groom Cookies

When I wasn't available to make the wedding cake (we were heading out of town to a wedding of our own!), the bride and her mom still wanted to have something from Cake Believe at the wedding.

So how about cookies as favors for the guests as they leave?

Perfect!

Now, what design???

The bride showed me some pictures of cakes she liked and she found a picture of cake pops that were decorated like a bride's gown and a tuxedo that she really liked.

We can certainly do a similar design on cookies!

It's not an original creation, this thought of using a heart (to represent the love) and decorating them as bride and groom are all over the web!

What makes it unique?  Well this groom wasn't wearing a tux, he was wearing a suit!
And the color of the bridesmaid's and groomsmen's ties is watermelon!

So I matched the icing to the fabric swatch and viola!

Happy Wedding ... Wishing you a Lifetime of LOVE!!!

Tybee Island Lighthouse Wedding

When I make a wedding cake I always ask questions about what the bride and groom want their cake to look like. Many times they find a picture of a cake somewhere and ask for something similar. I don't mind using other cake artists for inspiration....because lets face it.....there are some wickedly talented cakers out there! But I also like to get a picture of the wedding gown and know what the venue looks like to ensure that the cake will fit in at the reception.
This is Liz's wedding gown. It's so beautiful and perfect for a beach wedding. The skirt makes me think of waves......

Liz and Dave got married on Tybee Island Georgia. They were married on the beach and the reception was held at the famous Tybee Island Lighthouse.

Here is the lighthouse.....
Here is the reception area under the tent on the lawn behind the lighthouse....

Here is my cake CENTER STAGE under the tent!
(I love that something I contributed gets an important place at the event)

Here is the front view of the cake. I incorporated the calla lilies that Liz was having at the wedding with the chocolate sea shells and edible sand and pearls.

(Can I tell you how excited I was when I saw the cake serving set? Perfect match!)
This is the "back" view of the cake. I wrote their new monogram in the sand.

The design was white buttercream with chocolate waves in the teal/sea blue color of the bridesmaids.
(See how I used the wave feel from the bride's dress?)
Here is a close up of some shells and the chocolate wave with edible sand and pearls.

Congratulations Liz and Dave!
It was a pleasure working with you....wishing you many happy years together!

Caines-Pearl Wedding

What a joy and honor to get asked to make the wedding cakes for my neighbor.
I made their engagement cake and they liked that so much, that Lauren wanted to have me for her wedding and groom's cakes also.

Here are the ribbon roses after they were placed on the cake at the reception hall. These are made of pink fondant and then brushed with pink and super pearl petal dusts to give them dimension and shine. These were a lot of fun to make, each one has it's own shape and "personality". Here is the cake put together. This thing was heavy! I put two tiers together before I got to the hall and then finished assembly and cornelli lace piping there. Placing the edible pearls around the bottom of each tier was quite time consuming, but I think the overall effect was lovely.

Once it was all put together I needed help to move it onto the cake plateau in the center of the table.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the triple chocolate groom's cake. It is covered in yummy delicious chocolate buttercream and also has the cornelli lace pattern to coordinate with the bridal cake. This is a replica of their engagement cake.
It is a sweet and personal message on the cake. "Grace is a treasure, a Pearl of great price."
Lauren's middle name is Grace ~ and she is definitely a treasure.
The groom's last name is Pearl ~ and what a nice way to honor the value of their relationship and newly shared name.
I wish the Pearls a lifetime of love and happiness! Thanks for letting me share your special day with you.
Kessler ~ Ray Wedding
What a beautiful location to be married. This is the Westin Savannah. It is located on the Savannah river and you can actually take a ferry and cross the river to get to River Street for a great tour of historic Savannah.
Here they have the chairs set up in the garden area for the wedding. You can see the river in the background. Some nice boats and a bit of River Street also. Thankfully the weather was very cooperative today. We have been having lots of rain, but not a drop today and although it was quite warm...the wedding was at 7pm...perfect temperature!
Here is the Bride's dress.
(Just a close up because I wanted to see the pattern in the bodice)
This is my sugar translation of that beautiful pattern.
Want to see more?
I made a couple dozen cupcakes to ensure enough servings for all guests.
I used those beautiful cupcake wrappers again.
Tied each with a bow.
Congratulations Ansley and Jason!
Black and White Wedding
What a classy wedding color scheme ~ Black, White and a splash of Red ~ This three tiered cake is simply elegant.
Black silk ribbon around the base of each tier, a white on white scroll pattern above that and handmade red fondant roses.
The groom's cake is designed after the grooms truck.
A custom made Chevy "drag/low rider".
You might wonder what is coming out from under the back of truck.....?
Apparently when these trucks are racing they are so low to the ground that sparks shoot up where it meets the asphalt. I made the "sparks" from hard candy that I heated up and "pulled" to make fun shapes.
(They might look more like flames....but give me the benefit of the doubt please!)
My version of a new vanity plate for the groom!
JUST MARRIED!
(It even has the Georgia peach in the background!)
Congratulations Britt and Kev!
Sea Shell Wedding
Here is the wedding cake I did today. White Almond Sour Cream with Buttercream Icing. White Chocolate sea shells, hand painted with Marine Blue food dust and Super Pearl dust. Edible pearls for the "bubble" effect. Even the "sand" is edible (Nilla Wafers!)
A lovely young couple starting their lives together on Tybee Island GA.
Beautiful weather and a great setting.
Congratulations Crystal and Garrett!
Dare to Love
Now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love, but the Greatest of these is Love.
1 Corinthians 13:13
A local church was holding a "Fireproof" movie viewing and wedding retreat. They were hosting a dinner and wanted to have a "wedding" themed cake for dessert. I haven't seen the movie yet (it is on my Netflix list with a 'long wait' attached to it), but I do have "The Love Dare" book so I found a verse in the front of that book that you hear recited at many weddings. I decided to incorporate that into the design. The picture is a bit hard to make out, white on white looks good in person, just doesn't translate in photo form.
This is an Italian Cream cake with Cream Cheese Icing. The cornelli lace and verse were done with buttercream icing.
