It's also a delicious way to eat your cake!

This cake has the vests and guns made out of fondant.

The sides show the maze of each teams color and getting to the home base of each color to earn points.

Hope your team won Matthew!

17 holes anyone?

What do you get a 17 year old who loves golf?

A golf cake.....of course!

Lance's mom found several golf themed cakes online that she liked and we took the elements that she liked best from them and came up with this design.

Since golfing is an 18 hole game.... I thought having the flag to make this "hole" be his age was very appropriate!

It is iced in buttercream with a fondant "green", golf bag and flag. I even painted the golf clubs with silver lustre dust!
The golf ball on the board is molded from white chocolate!

Fore!

UGA Helmet

Hunter loves University of GA football.
I'm sure most boys around these here parts do.
*Say that last sentence with a good Georgian drawl please.
So a 3D helmet cake was in order for his birthday!

This is completely iced in buttercream, the accents are made from fondant.

I even added his name to personalize it for him.

I love the silver "rivet snaps"!

How much fun can you have with cake???
Go Dawgs!

Gymnastics Girl

Caitlin is BIG into gymnastics....she's serious about this stuff!

So for her birthday she wanted a gymnastics themed cake.  I asked her mom what her favorite event was and she said she was a "beam" girl.....and her favorite colors are pink and purple.
So I made a chocolate ribbon beam around the bottom edge of the cake and made several purple sillohuettes of different moves.

What a fun cake!  Hope you had a great birthday Caitlin!

I get a KICK out of you!

Soccer cookies.
Simple enough right?

There is no symmetry when you are hand piping with no guidelines.....but I think that makes them look more realistic.....or 3 dimensional......

Right????

All wrapped up and ready to go!
I get a "kick" out of soccer ball cookies!

Bowling Party

We have this cool new bowling/game arena Frames n Games in our area.  I have delivered several cakes to parties there, but this was the first time the cake actually matched the party activity!

I made the birthday boy's name and the bowling terms out of chocolate.  I used a fun background, because I wanted it to give the feeling of when the ball hits the pins!

I made the "wood" planks by making creases in my buttercream and then I painted some brown food coloring to give it a bit of "wood grain" feel.

Hope your birthday was a "Striking" good time Brandon

Dad's Golf Bag Birthday

What's more fun than having your cake and eating it????
Having your favorite sport in cake and eating it!

Lady Shark Luau

The Lady Sharks were having their softball celebration with a luau theme and called for a cake...

This is what I came up with!

Top view...I copied their name logo in black icing and created fondant softballs.
I'm not a dentist....but this shark needs some work!!!

I added buttercream lei's and chocolate hibiscus flowers and adorned the sides with buttercream bubbles.
The shark is molded from rice krispie treats and covered in fondant. Her fin is made with fondant and modeling chocolate so it would hold it's shape.

Way to go Sharks!

Tennis, Anyone?

Another set of twins and they are turning 8 this year!

Both girls play tennis so a tennis theme it needs to be!

I wanted to have some "action" on the cake. I found this clip art and created it in chocolate.

Then I found the dimensions of a real tennis court and scaled it down to the size of my cake.
I put tennis players around all the sides...

Add some icing tennis balls and a couple of chocolate rackets and....
tennis, anyone???

80th Birthday Bash

I have made this bass fishing cake design before, just not this big and not one that needed to include chocolate buttercream.

See Hollie had some of my yummy Hershey's chocolate buttercream icing on another cake and HAD to have more! So I came up with a two tiered cake that would allow for a "muddy bottom lake" effect! The whole bottom layer is iced in chocolate buttercream and I brought the water down on top of that for the wavy water effect.

What a wonderful and momentous birthday to celebrate! 80 years is an amazing life! "PaPa" must be an avid fisherman, so we gave him one he could eat....wait....you CAN eat fish.....okay, one you can eat that tastes SWEET! Hee Hee!

The fish is actually molded from Rice Krispie Treats and covered in fondant/modeling chocolate and hand painted with food color paste. The "water splash" is made from modeling chocolate made the same color as the buttercream icing.

I put a fish hook with a worm and then made the fishing line spell out the birthday message to PaPa!(See the fish's tail sticking out at the bottom of the top tier?....you gotta love it!)

Here is the complete design. With buttercream and fondant accents and chocolate rocks!Congratulations on 80 years of life and here's to many more to come!

Bulldogs!

I have done a couple of Georgia Bulldog cakes and wanted to try a different design this time. I really like this dog's expression.

I incorporated a football field design on the sides of the cake and even included some chocolate footballs!
Hope you had a great birthday Liam!

Braves Fan!

Ashton is turning 22 and she is an Atlanta Braves fan (#10 Chipper Jones is her favorite). Her Mom teaches my oldest son and asked me to make this special cake for Ashton's birthday.

The Braves logos were made from chocolate, Chipper's jersey and the flowers are made from fondant.
I went on the WWW and found an example of Chipper's autograph and freehanded it in buttercream on the baseball.
Hope your birthday was special Ashton!

SmackDown vs. RAW

Do you know who this is?

This was my first request for a WWE cake. I had to do some research on the internet and I found a lot of information regarding WWF v. WWF. The World Wildlife Foundation sued the World Wrestling Federation for the rights to the "WWF".

I understand you don't want people to infringe on your idea and confuse you with another.....but seriously....
who could confuse this....
with this.....Ultimately the original WWF won the battle and World Wrestling Federation became World Wrestling Entertainment. WWF to WWE.
Smackdown vs. RAW is a video game based on the WWE players. I found a few screen images and decided to make a wrestling ring.

I had limited time in this design, so the ring posts are cookie sticks and the ropes are curling ribbon. I know I could figure out a way to make this 100% edible......white chocolate covered pretzel rods and red licorice rope??? I guess we'll see if I get another request for a WWE cake!

P.S. The guy at the beginning is John Cena and he is the KING of wrestling....at least according to Chandler!

Hope your 12th birthday was Smackdown fantastic Chandler!

German Chocolate

If you could taste this cake through the blogosphere.....you would know how incredibly yummy it is!
I got this recipe from a friend when I lived in Texas....and then I found out the recipe is actually on the Baker's German chocolate baking bar box! It doesn't matter where it came from, the fact is that it is the BEST german chocolate cake EVER!

There are several steps in preparing this cake, but each step adds to the overall flavor and appearance. The step to add.....toast your pecans before you add them to the coconut pecan icing....you won't regret it!

This is by far the cake choice of my husband every year! And now I'm thinking Ian and his family might have a new favorite!
Happy Birthday Ian!

Here's the link to Baker's recipe

Noah's Football Cake

Noah is turning 9, he likes football and his Dad coaches at Savannah Christian Preparatory School.

Noah's Mom wanted a football field cake that represented SCPS.

Hope you have a WINNING birthday Noah!

Caden's 'Go Dawgs!'

I love the fact that so many people are passionate about their favorite football team here in the south. It was like that in Texas as well....and not just the professional teams, but the Universities all the way down to the local little leagues!

As Caden is turning 4 he had two requests for his cake....
he wanted
1 ~ red velvet cake
2~ a Go Dawgs! cake
Now that is one SOUTHERN boy!

I think it's sweet because I don't remember caring about what kind of cake I had when I was 4....I'm sure I just wanted CAKE!
(See how savvy kids are getting???)

So here is Caden's Red Velvet with Cream Cheese Icing ~ Go Dawgs! cake!
The Bulldog and G plaques are made from colored chocolate.

Hope you had a great birthday Caden!
