Chubby Bunny

This was my entry for a cake contest in one of our local area Relay for Life events.

I have had this cute little ceramic bunny for years and I saw this as a chance to make a replica of her in cake.

I am so pleased with the result!

Cake and ceramic bunny together.

The cake is carved from 6" and 8" rounds.  The head is made from Rice Krispie treats and covered in fondant.  The bunny is iced in buttercream with fondant accents.

I just love my chubby bunny!

P.S.  I did win the trophy for the contest.  :)

Chick Egg Cookies

I saw these cute little refrigerator magnets in the Oriental Trading catalog a couple of years ago. I never ordered them, but I saved the picture because I thought they would make the cutest cookies for Easter!

So this year, I planned ahead and made plenty of cookie dough and went to work. I looked to see if I could find a special cookie cutter that would fit the shapes, alas I didn't find anything that was ready made. So I just used my egg shape cutter and improvised.

I only made the egg chick design. Because I think the other chick designs deserve the have a cutter made to the appropriate shapes. I know there are ways to make your own cutters....so next year I'll plan even farther ahead and make cutters for the chick with bunny ears!

I like that way these turned out. I used wet on wet icing to get the colorful spots on the eggs. Then edible marker to give each egg their own eyes. The kids enjoyed these as well!
Happy Easter!

Easter Bunny Cupcakes

Each year I look for new cupcake ideas for the kids' Easter parties at school. Last year I was inspired by the Hello, Cupcake! book and made most all of their Easter/Spring ideas.

This year I wanted to make a simple cupcake because I had a LOT to make!
So I found this cute little Easter Bunny clip art and decided he would sit on the cupcakes.
I also had some edible Easter grass to use. So I trimmed it into small pieces and rolled the cupcake edges in it after I iced them with a swirl.
This grass was flavored with a mild green apple flavor.

I made vanilla cupcakes with white chocolate bunnies.
And chocolate cupcakes with milk chocolate bunnies.
The kids both had fun parties off campus. That included snacks and games and Easter egg hunts!
Happy Easter!

This is the "Tail End" of Easter Treats

Look at this and tell me what you see...... Well it's a bunny jumping down into his hole because you scared him! He saw you reaching for a yummy cupcake and he is trying to get to safety! Quick! Jump bunny, jump!

Another fun and cute Hello, Cupcake! design.

My oldest son took these to his Easter party today. Tomorrow is Good Friday and the kids begin their spring break.

I'm wishing you all a very Happy Easter ~ Rejoice, for the Lord has Risen!

The Easter Bunny is Coming to Town Today

Here's hoping, he's hippety hopping your way..... These were for an Easter party at school. Man, these things multiply quickly!

Easter Cookies

Happy Easter! These are some of the cookies I made for the boys to give to their teachers. I will wrap them separately and put them in a nice basket with some multi-colored paper grass.
Just a quick treat for the teachers for Easter.
Happy Easter everyone!
